First Day of School!!!

Dear Kate,
You are SUCH a big girl.  You started Parent's Day Out at Franklin First United Methodist Church and you were so excited about it!  Sister helped us decide what you wanted to be when you grow up.  Since you like the "moo's" in our backyard so much she figured you'd like to be a Farmer.  Makes sense.
Mommy was super proud of you starting school!
 And so was Sister...
When we get out of the car you say "I walk" and insist on walking by yourself (i.e. without Mommy's hand, so we typically battle it out all the way to the door).

The first day was a Wednesday and you went a half day, 2 hours.  You walked right in, decided which locker would be yours and hung your bag up like you'd done this a million times.
I stood back and waited for you to cling to me, or well, just give me some sort of sign, but nope, you just wondered over to the toys and started playing.  Lots of other kiddos were crying or holding onto their Mommy, but Miss Independent just starting sorting through the blocks!  I casually blew you a kiss goodbye and walked Sister to her class.  When I walked back by I peeked in and the teachers (Miss Misty and Miss Amber) just looked at me like "She is having the time of her life in here!"  I have to say, I was a bit shocked.  I didn't think it would be terrible, but thought you'd at least acknowledge my departure!  Ha!!
When I picked you up you and your classmates were all looking at the classroom fish.  So sweet!
You got your backpack and set off to get Sister.
Since then, you have been 3 more days and it gets better and better for you.  You basically fun in, throw your backpack and lunch box in your locker and start your day!  I will say, that backpack and lunch box have become quite the obsession though.  When you get home, you do not want to take it off and insist on wearing it for at least 10 more minutes at home.  And, on days you don't go to school, but Sister does, we still have to carry yours in the car with us, and of course, wear it inside for 10 minutes...

In conclusion, you love school!!!  Hooray!!! And you are already learning so much.  You sing "Wheels on the Bus" over and over again and are learning your colors, too!
Smart girl!  Love you!
