5 Months Old!

Dear Kate,
You turned 5 months old! You are as cute as ever and are starting to be a little bit like the monkey that your sister is! No, you are not crawling, but you sure are squirming like a little pink princess worm!
We can't take our eyes off your or we have you buckled up, and sometimes both! You sit up in your bouncy seat now, so we HAVE to buckle you up there, and I'm pretty sure we're going to be putting it in the attic soon enough. You love jumping in your exersaucer and still love laughing at your sister! Don't we all. You are about to start trying cereal, so we'll keep you posted on that and you just got back from a week long ski trip. More on that later. You still are a good sleeper, minus the naps most days. Every now and then you'll surprise us and sleep over 2 hours for a nap, but no complaints. You still sleep great at night. You're sitting up so good these days, too. You even sit on the 'other side' of the bathtub - the big girl side! And you still love facing forward. Mimi says you like being carried like a sack of potatoes! Oh, and you love your toes! Love sticking them in your mouth!
Over all, a great month. You are healthy and beautiful and just a pleasant baby to be around sweet Kate!

Love you squirmy baby girl!

Happy 1st Valentine's Day!

Dear Kate,
You celebrated your first Valentine's day with the folks that love you the most, your family! You are, and always will be, Mommy's sweet Valentine! This year, we had a fun day of activities including opening presents (you got a copy of Guess How Much I Love You, very appropriate if you ask me!) and kisses from your big sister...
Abs has grasped the concept of Valentine's Day, that is, she showed her love to EVERYONE that day, but especially to her favorite little sister! We also went to Abs school party and then out to dinner, and you even got to join us for dinner. You didn't care for the Indian food (or well, I didn't offer you any :) but you did love some bottle!
This year, Mommy and Abby did a "Things I Love List" where I ask a bunch of questions and Abby answered them all on her own. Well, after we did Abs, she wanted me to do it, so I did, and then she wanted YOU to do it. I explained to her that you couldn't tell us your favorite things and she immediately responded with "I can tell you." So... she did...
Here what she thinks are your favorite things...

1. What is your favorite color? PINK! (I never would have thought...)
2. What is your favorite toy? a rattle
3. What is your favorite fruit? nothing - Kate doesn't eat fruit Mom!
4. What is your favorite TV show? Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (hmmm...)
5. What is your favorite thing to eat for lunch? a bottle

8. What is your favorite snack? a bottle
9. What is your favorite animal? me!
10. What is your favorite song? Baby baby, Justin Beiber
11. What is your favorite book? Trick or Treat (that is, "Where is Babys Treat" or something like that!)

15. What is your favorite drink? milk
16. What is your favorite holiday? Valentine's Day!
17. What do you like to take to bed with you at night? Paci (your sister is pretty smart!)
18. What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast? milk
19. What do you want for dinner on your birthday? Pineapples!
20. What do you want to be when you grow up? Ella Bella or Ellie (ha!!!!)
I'd say your sister did pretty good answering those questions! I probably would have said the same things, for the most part! Maybe next year you can give us some hints if you are talking away!!
As I mentioned, Mommy had to answer the questions, too, and just so you will know what I was like on your first v-day, here are my responses...

20. What do you want to be when you grow up? If I could be anything, hmmm, maybe a gymnast!

Weekend Wrap up

Dear Kate,
Mimi came to visit you this past weekend.
Enough said! Oh, and she gave you a bath!! There were others, too, Ash-ash, Uncle Jay, Clara Lee, Pic-pic and Em, but Mimi definitely kept hold of you the majority of the time. Clara Lee loved her some baby, too, though. She even forfeited playing upstairs one time so she could keep holding you!!! A great weekend visit from your family!
Love you sweet Kate!

Birthdays and Superbowls

Dear Kate,
This past weekend was a busy weekend for us. Friday night we headed to Mexican and Nona and Papa joined us, along with Ellie's Aunt Meg. You were your typical excellent self, even putting yourself to sleep in the car seat as we ate! On Saturday, you got to hang out with Daddy for a bit while Sister and I headed to a birthday party for a little girl in her class, but then we met you and Daddy at Ellie's house because it was her big 3rd birthday!!! She had a Beauty and the Beast party and everything was beautifully decorated in yellow! Your Aunts (Amy and Jill) were both eager to get their hands on you and I had little time of holding you myself!
You got to hang out with Jake for a bit, too. When I say hang out with Jake, I mean Mommy and Miss Leigh made the two of you look at each other. You put on a good smile for him and of course he was all smiles. You were precious as always, and again, impressed everyone with how flexible you were with being passed around and content with whatever passed your way!
Here's you and Daddy, trying to steal some of Ellie's cupcake...
On Sunday morning, you and Daddy and Abby all went to the grocery store while Mommy straightened up the house for our big Super bowl party! From what Daddy said, you all three did pretty good, although your sister was a little disappointed there was no cart for her to push. Soon enough the party started and when I say the party started, I mean it! Let's see, the gang was all here, and a friend from Daddy's work and his wife and 2 year old daughter, and Miss Auburn, Mr. Matt, Chloe and Cole joined us, and then Nona, Papa and Aunt Meg too! The kiddos were CRAZY, but you and Jake and Christopher were great. You really did 'play' with Jake this time. He played on your mat and you jumped in front of him in the exersaucer! Aunt Meg was getting some bonding time with you, too. She was holding you and the next thing I know, she's upstairs changing your diaper then wiping your little spitty mouth! She was a big help because my focus was keeping those crazy kids out of my bathroom, and dressed!! That's another story, or well, your sister's story!! Anyway, we had a fun time and eventually the game came to an end, which was about the same time as your day - however, Mommy was GOING to win the big pot of money but the Giants decided to go for 2 and it surprised Mommy and I let out a little scream. You weren't too happy about that, but I got you back asleep, however I'm short on cash. Your Aunt Steph walked away with most of the money!!!!
A fun, fun weekend. Love you sweet thing!!

Clara Lee's 3rd Birthday

Dear Kate,
This past weekend, we headed to Munford to celebrate Clara Lee's big 3rd birthday party. We got in a little later than usual on Friday because we actually waited for Daddy this time! By the time we got to Mimi's it was dinner time so we headed straight back out to Mexican. It was just us and Mimi and Pic-pic, and we thought it'd be no prob getting a table. I mean we come with 12, 15, even 17 one time and got a table. Of course, we called ahead on those, but anyway. My point is we got there and had to wait! The thought... But we did get a pleasant surprise when Sarah showed up. Of course, she went to her Aunt's table and didn't make room for us, but whatever. It was not the restaurant's best night, but we survived and headed back to sleep at Mimi's. Well, I'll use the term 'sleep' loosely. You, my friend, my dear, sweet, precious, 99% of the time great sleeper baby girl, decided you needed to get up. And scream. And continue to scream. All night. No clue what was wrong with you. All I know is at 5 your sister woke up, you woke up and I woke up. And only you went back to sleep, but like 2 hours later. It was by far one of the worst nights. I have no clue what was wrong with you, but I refused to cave and feed you that early. Finally I fed you at 6:45, which was pushing it, but that seemed to calm you down. Of course, at this point I am wired, and your sister was already on her 3rd episode of Mickey Mouse. No doubt it was going to be a LONG day. Thankfully we didn't have much to do but go to CL's party at 2. Unfortunately there was not enough time for me to sneak in a nap and we had to force your sister to sleep by driving around in the car. Man alive it was not a good weekend for sleep habits!
Finally, though, we made it to the big event - the Barnyard Bash - and you made up for all your terribleness the night before because you were just PERFECT. And I really mean way perfect. Everyone, and I mean everyone, kept commenting on how good you were, how laid back you were, how you let anyone hold you and just were content the whole time. I didn't mention to anyone that you were probably just zoned out tired!!! Nah, really I just think you are a good baby like that. And when I say let anyone hold you, I mean it. At one point, Daddy walked outside where I was and said "Ummmm, there's someone I don't know who is holding Kate." So I walked in the barn (most everyone else was on the hayride) and yep, sure enough someone was holding you and I didn't have a clue who it was. I saw Pic-pic talking to her, so I assumed it was all good, and I asked her if I could take you and she said she was fine if I didn't care. I didn't, other than I didn't know who she was!! But you were so good. So good that it got kind of weird because I didn't know if I should just come and get you from her. Usually a baby starts squirming or something and you go "Oh, let me take her from you" but you didn't squirm. Finally I told her she should go eat and I'd just take you. But I didn't have you for long. Lynnie wanted to hold you and then Aunt G and of course Mimi had her fair share!

And even the other Mimi (Clara Lee's other grandmother) wanted to hold you!
And at one point I thought I finally got my hands on you, but Bebob (my spelling may be off) (she's CL's great grandmother - I think...) walked in and immediately had to hold you. She just talked and talked away, just bouncing you on her knee! She loves some babies, no doubt.
Eventually, you took a nap, were content a little bit longer, and then we headed home, hopefully to sleep a decent night of sleep. It wasn't your usual awesome night, but it wasn't like the night before. Just a couple times, and each time I was able to get you back asleep. We packed up fairly early on Sunday and headed back home to do some work in the garage and thank goodness Daddy was with us because something sparked in you and we couldn't get you to stop crying. I had to get in the back and comfort you (read "plead with you") to stop crying and eventually you did. Man alive, it was a tough weekend for you and me both, but at least we had a little fun in there with CL's hoedown! Next year Mommy will even let you ride the hayride :)
Love you, and next time you plan one of those nights will you give me a heads up? Please?? XXOO
